Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find a few questions I get asked with regards to gardens, myself and the business.

Why is it called Gardens of Joy?

I named it after my Aunt, my love of gardens came from many hours spent in hers as a child which made me very happy.  She was disabled so I came in handy when it came to helping, she also created an area just for me to play in (all be it with toy cars!) My love of outdoors comes from that happy place.

Do you use pesticides?

As a rule no, if a client wants me to then that is their choice, I can only advise alternatives.  On brambles that are rooting under paving it sometimes can be the only option.  I always try to ensure any snails, worms or anything else has been removed from the area if I apply it.

Do to cut large hedges/trees?

Short answer no.  I'm a woman in her late 40's who doesn't like ladders beyond the first 3 steps.

Do you lay paving?

Yes and no.  If I do I lay it on a sand base and don't cement, that way there is still drainage and the soil doesn't get damaged.  I think the term is rustic paving!  If you're after a beautiful immaculate sterile patio I am not your person.
